The Tour

On 11th of March 2006, we will start from Munich. First, we go to Venice where we take a ferry to Igomenitza, Greece. From there, we have to take the direct way to Turkey because we have to be in Konya on 29 March. Why? Because that day, there will be a total eclipse of the sun. Impressions of the Total Eclipse in 1999

And then, we start the real exiting part of our tour:
We go to Syria and we will take some time to visit the country with all its sights. Crossing Syria, we will come to Jordan and also visit the country with its sights – of course, a visit of “Petra” and the "Dead Sea" should not be missed. We plan to cross both countries in April.

After Jordan, we go to Egypt, visiting all the famous buildings and regions, like the pyramids of Gizeh, and the sights of Luxor and Assuan. We guess that we have to spend the whole month May in that country. Arriving in Assuan, we have to check if the border to Sudan will be open and how the political situation in Sudan is. If it will be possible to enter Sudan, we have to take a ferry over the lake Nasser .

Once in Sudan, we will cross the country as fast as possible. From Sudan we go to Ethiopia – we guess that we will be there during the rainy season, and a lot of routes will be quite difficult to drive. However, we try to see some sights and we will visit our sponsored child Kenaye (from the organisation Plan International) in any case – he lives in the north of the country. Well, by crossing both countries, the 4. month of our journey – June – will pass flying.

Now, in July, we come to Kenya where we plan to go into some national parks to observe the big five and other animals. And of course, a short visit of the lake Victoria should not be missed either.
End of July / begin of August, we plan to enter Tanzania and to cross the whole country. Very famous is the mount Kilimanjaro - with 5895 m Africa's highest mountain. From Tanzania, we will go to Malawi with its big lake Niassa, and continue to Zambia, visiting the famous Victoria Falls.

Afterwards, Botswana follows – we will leave our motorbike for a couple of days, rent a boat with guide and go into the Okavango Delta.

After all these exiting experiences, we guess to reach Namibia at the end of October. There we will go to the Etosha National Park and the Namib Desert. Crossing the whole country, we will go to South Africa and drive along the west coast to Cape Town – here, our tour will end in December 2006. But if we have still some money left, we try to see the whole country South Africa, up to the Krueger National Park .

Once arrived in Cape Town, we have to check the best way to bring us and the bike back to Germany. There will be different possibilities: the bike and we by ship or all by airplane or the bike by ship and we by airplane. We will see…

Well, the description of our tour can only give an idea what we want to do. We know which countries we would like to see and to cross, but we always have to decide on the spot what we will do next and where we can go.
