Rita und Chri Ising from München

Rita – born 1972 and grown up in Halle/Saale. After 1 year as an au-pair in the south of France, I came to Munich for studying. My main subject was tourism. I did not study tourism by chance, because I loved and I still love travelling around. In addition, I used to work abroad – for 2 internships, I went to London and Cape Town. After my graduation in economics, my sister and I decided to start a tour across South America. In 1999 we bought a car – a yellow Mercedes G, grabbed our dog Bonny (a female Rottweiler) and off we went to explore the South American continent. Impressions Southamerica

Chri – born 1968 in St. Louis, and grown up there the first 4 years, and then in Eching near Moosinning. After an apprentice ship as a male nurse, I studied in Munich “Feinwerktechnik”. During my time as a student, I did some motorbike trips, e.g. in Europe and 2 times through the Libyan Desert. After my graduation as an engineer for medical technique, I also started in 1999 my big adventure tour: 1 year with my bike (BMW) via land- and seaway from Munich to Sydney . Impressions Transasia

End of 2000, we came back to Munich, and the “normal way of life” began.

Some people will ask why we decided to make such a trip again, why we take such a big risk and quit jobs and take a long timeout just for travelling. Well - we can't tell you. It's like an addict. Everybody, who was travelling for some months, probably, may understand us.

But the impulse to know new countries and cultures is big. Our wish to travel again came already some months after we returned in 2000. We both know form the African Continent just some countries and the thought to cross this big continent became reality.

We also try to visit our sponsored child in the north of Ethiopia, which is supported from the relief organization Plan International. Kenaye is his name. During the tour we try to visit other projects in different countries of this organisation.
With our trip to Africa we also want to bring up the catastrophic situation (poverty, war, starvation...) of the Black Continent.

In the end: all our slideshows of the previous tours are shown several times and we need new material. So it's time to be on the road again. Chri quit his job and Rita got one year unpaid vacation (thanks to Autobus Oberbayern GmbH). On march 11th we start our tour through the Black Continent.
